In March this year Sivatel Bangkok opened their doors on Wireless Road, opposite the British Embassy. You can see my review of Sivatel Bangkok that I posted earlier.
As you can see the rooms are really spacious with huge bathtubs and in this particular room there are two flat screen TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living room, both with Apple TVs.
Lebua at State Tower plays a prominent role in The Hangover Part II -showcasing the open air bar on the roof of a skyscraper hotel as seen from a helicopter. Sirocco, touted as the world’s highest open-air rooftop restaurant on the 63rd floor offers breathtakingly panoramic views of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya river, which are especially impressive at sunset. Sirrocco and Sky Bar are part of the spectacular Lebua hotel complex, located in the Sathorn district, close to the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The nearest BTS Skytrain station is Saphan Taksin, from where you can also catch many different shuttle ferries and teak dinner cruise boats.
You may remember the sneak peek of the St Regis Bangkok I posted here a couple of months ago. Well now I am pleased to bring you a little video tour of the Caroline Astor Suite which offers arguably the best views in all of Bangkok.
Located across the street from the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, on the 16th to 24th floors, the St Regis created a buzz when they opened the doors to Thailand’s first St Regis property in April.
Check out this video I made of the Caroline Astor Suite at the St Regis Bangkok a week before they opened in April. Imagine waking up to views like this!
As you can see in the video, the bathroom has floor to ceiling windows which look out over the Bangkok Royal Sports Club below. Yod, my butler, assured me that of course the glass in the windows, and the view , were one way and that guests could feel comfortable watching the races from their free-standing bathtub.
Here is my video tour of the standard room at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok, one of my favorite hotels in Bangkok.
While I do love the Grand Hyatt Erawan, and it is always my first port of call every time I am in Bangkok, it is aging a little and there are a couple of improvements that I think would make the hotel that much better.
My Grand Hyatt Erawan Wishlist
An iPad docking station, or any way to listen to your own music in the room.
A reading light above the sofa chair. You have the sunlight coming in the window during the day to read the newspaper by, but at night there is no direct lighting to read by.
What changes, if any, would you like to see made at the Hyatt in Bangkok?
You may have seen these new Xtranormal videos that are doing the rounds recently on blogs around town. I decided to have a bit fun and try my hand at making one myself. I tried to fit as many stereotypical Thai scams into 2 minutes as possible without being too offensive.
I was inspired to make this by a hilarious video posted by Kevin May, called A Blogger Walks into A Hotel, over at the Talking Travel Tech blog, TNOOZ.com. You can find another travel inspired user created cartoon at The Grumpy Traveller. If you like the video , please share it on Twitter or one of the social media links below.
Did I miss any scams? Speaking of Thailand scams, have you ever been a victim of one? Do you have any advice for fellow travelers? Please share below.
