Continuing the series of posts that will run every Monday through till the end of November, today I am highlighting 16 Five Star Resorts and Hotels on Ko Samui, one of Thailand’s more beutiful, and so far relativley untarnished islands.

These hotels and resorts can be had for less than 299 US dollars in the middle of the peak season, for five nights from December 27th.

I chose to focus on this date as it is one of the busiest for arrivals in Thailand during the Christmas/New Year vacation period.

Many of the hotels listed below offer free wifi to guests, and these properties are indicated by the Free Wifi mark.

Five Star Samui Hotels for as low as USD86

If you were inspired by the beauty of Ko Samui featured in my August desktop calendar wallpaper, you might be happy to see this list of five star resorts on the island for less than USD141 during August, the peak of the summer vacation period. Some of these resorts were also featured in my list for last month, but you will see that the prices are even lower than July!

The rates below were found at Agoda.com, for five nights in the middle of August, from the 13th. This is just a date I chose randomly, and is not the result of me clicking around to try to find the cheapest dates in August just for the purpose of a sensational headline. Some dates during the month might be more expensive at these hotels, and you may also find dates that are cheaper. Click through to see what you can find.

Free Wifi- Free wifi

I’ve also added a new feature to these lists. Resorts offering free Wifi are marked with the symbol shown above. More and more hotels are coming to the realization that guests expect free Wifi and that it is not an added luxury. I think that this is a practice that needs to be encouraged, so I am highlighting these hotels in the hope that it will help bring the stragglers into line with guest expectations.

Though this week has been unseasonably cool in Bangkok, we are heading into the hottest time of year. If you are heading to Thailand for the Songkran festival next month, you may be interested in the post I wrote earlier this week listing 17 Five Star hotels in Bangkok for under USD 100 during the Songkran.
