Sivatel Bangkok review

Sivatel Bangkok pool

Highlights

  • Very large and comfortable rooms.
  • Molten Brown amenities in the bathroom.
  • Large rooftop pool with panoramic views of Bangkok
  • 4 minute walk to BTS Skytrain station

Sivatel Bangkok opened in late March and has just completed a three month soft opening. I had an opportunity to stay here in late March, two days after its soft opening. At that time, there were a total of two guests in the hotel, including me. While everybody was fresh faced and eager to please, there were a couple of newbie mistakes, but that is the whole point of a soft opening, to iron out these kinds of kinks, so I’m not holding it against them.

Location

Situated on Wireless Road on the northern side of Sukhumvit and facing the British embassy, Sivatel Bangkok is less than 5 minutes walk to the BTS Skytrain Chidlom station. It is a short walk to Central Chidlom mall and not much further to the Erawan Shrine, Central World, and then Siam Paragon, Siam Square and plenty of other shopping and dining options.

Rooms

If I have to pick a word to describe the guestrooms at Sivatel Bangkok it would be “space.” I stayed in the “Grand Noble” room, and even at 48 square meters, it is laid out so well that it felt very spacious. Other, larger rooms feel positively huge- you could throw a party in these rooms.

Sivatel Bangkok offers 75 guestrooms including one and two bedroom suites. The smallest rooms are the Noble rooms at 32 square meters and increase in size up to the 136 square meter Grand Royal Suite Duplex. The types of rooms and their respective sizes are as follows:

Z Through by The Zign Pattaya reviewed

One of the pools at Z Through by the Zign, Pattaya

Z Through by the Zign is a new boutique hotel in soi 12 off Naklua Road in Northern Pattaya. As the name somewhat clumsily points out, it is an offshoot of the nearby Zign Hotel, a huge twin tower complex overlooking it’s own private beach, which mostly caters to Russian and Korean tour operators. The same family owned group is responsible for the new TSixty5 hotel in the same street, closer to Naklua Road.

The concept of this hotel is lofty and one can really see how the designers and owners have put a lot of effort into this property. The problem lies in the gap between the concept and the execution, which is sometimes clumsy, but I will get to that later, in the review below.

Rich woods, marble, Thai silks and more are used to furnish and decorate the guest rooms, and with the Deluxe Rooms offering the largest standard hotel rooms in Bangkok guests can be assured of space and comfort when staying here.

Other 5 star facilities at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Bangkok include several award winning restaurants, a lively club, a jazz lounge, business center, function rooms, and Grande Spa and Fitness Club.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Spa

The beautiful freeform swimming pool is surrounded by lush vegetation providing plenty of shade and privacy when desired, plus the feeling of being far away from the bustling streets of Bangkok. I decided to try something new this time and go down to the pool early before people started coming down and make a video showing the full extent of the pool and surrounding areas.
