Video tour of Grand Hyatt Erawan + Wish list

Here is my video tour of the standard room at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok, one of my favorite hotels in Bangkok.

While I do love the Grand Hyatt Erawan, and it is always my first port of call every time I am in Bangkok, it is aging a little and there are a couple of improvements that I think would make the hotel that much better.

My Grand Hyatt Erawan Wishlist

  • An iPad docking station, or any way to listen to your own music in the room.
  • A reading light above the sofa chair. You have the sunlight coming in the window during the day to read the newspaper by, but at night there is no direct lighting to read by.

What changes, if any, would you like to see made at the Hyatt in Bangkok?

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok Review

The Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Bangkok is one of my favorite hotels in Thailand. The location is excellent, the hotel itself is beautiful, modern and classy, it features a nice large pool, and the rooms are well appointed and nicely furnished.

Arrival

When you first arrive at the Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel, most probably by taxi, you are swept up the driveway (after the security detail checks the trunk and under your car for bombs (!) ), to be greeted by two large elephants which are the symbol of the nearby Erawan shrine.

When the doors are opened for you, the spectacular lobby will blow you away. It is huge and elegant and really befits the “Grand” in Grand Hyatt. The lobby is 3 storeys high and contains a lot of marble and wood as well as lots of plants and is very pleasant indeed.

Four Seasons Bangkok vs Grand Hyatt Erawan- Part 2

This is the second part in a series of posts comparing two of the most luxurious hotels in Bangkok, The Grand Hyatt Erawan and The Four Seasons Bangkok.

You can see part 1 of the series, where I discuss the location, exterior, and lobby and of the two hotels at Four Seasons Bangkok vs. Grand Hyatt Erawan part 1.

In this review I’ll be comparing the standard room types at both properties, the Grand King at the Bangkok Hyatt and the Superior Room at the Four Seasons, which both offer 40 square meters.

Guestrooms at the Four Seasons Bangkok, with their wood paneled and wallpapered walls, silk paintings, and plush, upholstered chairs offer a classy and classic, old world feel.  Guestrooms at the Grand Hyatt Erawan on the other hand reflect a more contemporary feel, with the white painted walls and plenty of indirect lighting.

Hyatt Regency Hua Hin Regency club closure.

Hyatt LogoFrom mid-summer (August 15), The Regency Club rooms and facilities at the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin will be unavailable to guests as the hotel will be starting a complete overhaul and renovation of all Regency Club rooms and facilities. The BARAI Spa will be unaffected.

Hyatt Regency Hua Hin Regency Club room

Closing it down in the middle of the summer seems a little strange, but I suppose they need to do this in order to have it ready by the middle of December for the start of the peak season.
