As we head towards summer in the northern hemisphere, many people’s thoughts turn to tropical getaways.With Phuket remaining a perennial favorite, I decided to put together a list of 23 five star Phuket hotels for less than USD185 per night. Not only that, but nine of the hotels and resorts in the list can be had for less than USD100 per night, with rates starting as low as USD62. That is an unbelievable rate for a 5 star hotel in a premium destination such as Phuket.

I did a search on Agoda for 4 nights in the middle of July (from Monday 16th) and have listed the five star hotels and resorts below with the cheapest hotels listed first. I have also indicated which hotels and resorts offer free wifi with the mark.

Continuing the series of posts that will run every Monday through till the end of November, today I am highlighting 9 Five Star Resorts and Hotels on the most popular of Thailand’s islands, Phuket, that can be had for less than USD289 in the middle of the peak season, for five nights from December 27th.

I chose to focus on this date as it is one of the busiest for arrivals in Thailand during the Christmas/New Year vacation period. While the rates are not as eye-catchingly low as last week’s post, which featured 22 Five Star Hotels for less than 100 US Dollars, 289 dollars per night for a five star resort in one of the most popular tropical island resorts in the world isn’t too shabby.

Also, many of the hotels listed below offer free wifi to guests, and these properties are indicated by the mark.
