Hansar Bangkok Urban Suite

Highlights

  • Beautifully designed, spacious rooms
  • Free minibar filled with beer, soft drinks and snacks- replenished daily!!
  • Free wifi for everybody, everywhere!

The people who designed the Hansar Bangkok have spent either a lot of time staying in hotels, or asking and actually listening to what guests really want in a hotel, probably both.

Signs of the thought and care obviously put into the Hansar when it was being designed are everywhere and are particularly embodied by the little touches that give you little “aha!” moments all throughout your stay.

Video tour of Grand Hyatt Erawan + Wish list

Here is my video tour of the standard room at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok, one of my favorite hotels in Bangkok.

While I do love the Grand Hyatt Erawan, and it is always my first port of call every time I am in Bangkok, it is aging a little and there are a couple of improvements that I think would make the hotel that much better.

My Grand Hyatt Erawan Wishlist

  • An iPad docking station, or any way to listen to your own music in the room.
  • A reading light above the sofa chair. You have the sunlight coming in the window during the day to read the newspaper by, but at night there is no direct lighting to read by.

What changes, if any, would you like to see made at the Hyatt in Bangkok?

  • Spectacular views of the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok city skyline, not only from every room, but also from the rooftop pool area.
  • Riverside breakfast buffet.
  • Secluded private jacuzzi areas with views of the river and the city.

The Millennium Hilton Bangkok Hotel has towered over the Chao Phraya River skyline like a beacon since opening in May 2006, offering spectacular views from every room in the hotel. The rooftop pool and fitness facilities are amazing, and guests have a great choice of dining options, including a sun drenched  buffet breakfast right on the riverside.

Highlights

  • Stunning views of the Chao Phraya River- the sunsets are breathtaking
  • Plenty of space with large, roomy suites

The very first hotel I ever stayed at in Thailand was the Menam Riverside Hotel, about nine years ago. While the rooms were a little faded and the elevators were the slowest I have ever seen, the breakfast outside by the river terrace was quite memorable.

While planning a new round of hotel reviews late last year it struck me that I hadn’t stayed at any Bangkok riverside hotels since that inaugural visit to Bangkok all those years ago. With that in mind we decided on two riverside hotels, Chatrium Suites Bangkok and the Millennium Hilton Bangkok (Hilton review coming next week.)
