As we head towards summer in the northern hemisphere, many people’s thoughts turn to tropical getaways.With Phuket remaining a perennial favorite, I decided to put together a list of 23 five star Phuket hotels for less than USD185 per night. Not only that, but nine of the hotels and resorts in the list can be had for less than USD100 per night, with rates starting as low as USD62. That is an unbelievable rate for a 5 star hotel in a premium destination such as Phuket.

I did a search on Agoda for 4 nights in the middle of July (from Monday 16th) and have listed the five star hotels and resorts below with the cheapest hotels listed first. I have also indicated which hotels and resorts offer free wifi with the Free wifi mark.

Khaosan Hotels and prices during Songkran 2012

Songkran 2012 is just around the corner and in Bangkok, the most intense action takes place on the famous Khao San Road. Although famous as a backpacker haven, you can still find some pretty decent 3 star hotels as well as the occasional 3.5 star hotels.

If you are into some hard-core Songkran celebrations, I have listed a number of hotels below that will put you right in the thick of the action, firstly right on Khao San Road itself, and then a few streets out.
