Chatuchak Market, also known as J.J Weekend Market, is the largest outdoor market in Bangkok, and is often referred to as the largest outdoor market in the world. It is a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike. Situated by the Mo Chit BTS Skytrain station and reachable as well via Suan Chatuchak station on the MRT subway line, people looking to spend a day searching out a few of the many bargains to be had shouldn’t have any trouble finding it, especially since it’s one of the most renowned attractions in the city.

The markets are spread over 35 acres, and depending on who you ask, there are between 9000 and 15000 stalls selling everything from household accessories, handicrafts, art, antiques, religious artifacts, fruit, vegetables, flowers and exotic plants, to Thai silk and gifts to send home.  Bargaining is expected so make sure you don’t accept the first price you are quoted.

There are plenty of hotels in the surrounding area and this area is also close to Don Muang airport, which is served by Nok Air and One-Two-Go airways for domestic flights.
